Fourth of Juclimb

More pictures and a little report tomorrow but it was a good riding day and a great day not at work. I left the house before dawn and rode up the highest paved road in North America joining Erik and friends on his traditional 4th ride. Definitely qualified as the first July century and a boat load of climbing, doing some 4k feet just to reach the base of the climb proper in Idaho Springs and proceding to 14,264 feet from there.Marni, Turbo and I also hiked up to the proper summit for some pictures before the clouds rolled in. It was Turbo's first 14er and it didn't seem to phase him at all. In fact he was quite happy to get petted a million times by all the tourists.Yes I was tired by the time I reached the summit...

All 14ers should be done by driving 99% of the way and then hiking a few hundred feet. Also, they should all be done in red spandex. Great job on your HUGE ride! I was tired just from driving it!
